Religion in Schools

Read the article that appeared on CNN.COM today at:

Do you agree with the 16 year old or the teacher? Do you think religion belongs in schools? Also, how has attending a Christian school contributed to your belief in and relationship with God? Has it been helpful or harmful? Explain.

i think that the teacher is right. I dont understand how public schools are open to evolution and alot of other religions (or so i've heard, personally i have never been to a public school before) and i think that public schools should be open to all kinds of religions, including Christianity. I think that attending a christian school has contributed to my belief in and relationship with God. i love that we get to pray and dont have to worry of speaking about how we are christians or whatever. I believe, for me, that growing up going to a christian school has been helpfultowards my relationship with God. But i also feel that sometimes we can feel jaded because we are so used to chapel and bible class and everything that it is just routine and discipline as opposed to actualy wanting to go to chapel and wanting to go to bible class and learn about the bible..but like jason russel said that we need to bring back the want and need to worship God.. its people like jason that makes me happy that i go to a christian school. he motivates us to get out make a move for God. and that is why i believe that it is good to have religon in schools and that the teacher was right and that being in a Christian school has helped my relationship with God.

hi./
i also agree with the teacher. and i like jackie said i dont think that its really fair that they can teach evolution and not teach creation...(the actual truth) i understand why they teach evolution because it is not a religion, but still.also, i think that the word should be spread around but at the same time i dont know if i would say that religion belongs in schools. i think that i belongs in like christian/catholic/jewish/whatever other religion schools. But i dont think that it should be a major thing in public schools because many people have there different beliefs, and i think that school is for learning not for conflicts. I think that if public schools put religion into everyday things that would cause alot of conflict, and take alot of time away from what you should really be learnining about. But if the public school wants to have a religons class think that would be great, but not just in everyday talking during class. yes, i think that going to a chirstian school has contributed to my belief and relationship with God. I have been at sfc for all my life pretty much so i have learned about Him pretty much all growing up, so yes it has affected my life with God. To anwser the question about has it be helpful or harmful i would have to say both. Its helpful because i get to here about Him everyday and learn more about God. But its also harmful, because i get sick of hearing it and it just getting kinda of old.

yep. :0
